Medecins Sans Frontieres is an international independent medical humanitarian organization, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter). Humanitarian action considers assistance and bearing witness as inherent parts of the MSF principles.

MSF Greece was founded in 1990 and is one of the 19 sections of MSF International. Since 2004 MSF-Greece, in close cooperation with MSF Spain forms part of OCBA.

OCBA stands for Operational Centre Barcelona-Athens and is made up of four operational units (i.e. Operational Cells), the Emergency Unit (EU) and other departments or services supporting Operations.

Medecins Sans Frontieres are looking for a Head for our Communication Unit.

Position Requirements
The Head of Communication Unit proposes the long term communication strategy in coordination with OCBA Communication Director and within the OCBA Communication framework. S/he is responsible for the short term strategy, planning and implementation of all communication related activities, adapting the OCBA Communication Framework to the reality of the Greek Society.

S/he contributes to the development of the overall strategy of the organization as a regular member of the extended Management Team.

S/he has the important role to cooperate with the OCBA Communication Director in order to promote Accountability, Transparency and Ethics according to the MSF International standards.
Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • University degree in communications, journalism or public relations
  • Substantial experience and professional networking in the field of journalism, public relations, media relations or communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including editorial skills.
  • Bilingual Greek and English
